Photos

Photo files are opened and read inside this browser only. They are never sent to a server or stored. This holds for the shutter count check, the sensor test, the photo info viewer and the location remover.

Usage analytics (PostHog)

To improve the service we collect anonymous usage data with PostHog. It goes through this site's own address (/ingest) to PostHog in the US, so ad blockers don't break it.

• Sent: pages opened, language, features used (choosing a photo, saving a PDF, ticking the checklist and so on), the brand and model of the camera read, whether it worked and why not, the file type (extension), whether the photo had edit traces or location data, a rough count range (for example 10k to 50k), and the start of on-page error messages
• Not sent: photos, exact counts, serial numbers, file names, location coordinates
• An anonymous ID that tells browsers apart is kept in this device's storage. Session recording and automatic click capture are off.
• PostHog may also receive what any connection normally carries, such as browser type and approximate region.

Visit counter

To count daily visits, opening a page writes one record to Supabase: the page address, where you came from (another site's name or utm_source), device type (phone, tablet or computer), language and whether it is your first visit today.

Diagnostics when a read fails

To add support for more models, a file whose count couldn't be read sends its file structure once, automatically.

• Sent: the first 16 bytes of the file, the list of blocks in it, the tag lists of the photo data and maker notes (number, type and count), short values of 4 bytes or less, the bytes of the counter fields, camera make and model, firmware, software name, file size and type, a hash that identifies the same file, browser details and the Cutsoo version
• Not sent: the photo (image data and previews), serial numbers, GPS values, file names
• The same file is sent only once.

When you choose "Help support this model"

If you press it on the result, more maker-note fields (each up to 16KB) are sent. Photos, previews, serials and location are still left out. Your note and email (optional) are stored with it.

Feedback

The feedback form in the footer stores the type you chose, your message, your email (optional), the page, language and browser details. Your email is only used to reply.

What stays on this device

Your check history (model, count, dates), checklist ticks and chosen language stay in this browser's storage and are not sent. Clear them with Clear history and Clear all ticks.

Opting out

Open any page once with ?notrack at the end of the address and this browser stops sending analytics, the visit counter and failure diagnostics. Open with ?notrack=off to undo it.

Keeping and deleting

Only the operator sees this data, and it is used only to improve reading and the site. To have your feedback or diagnostics deleted, write to eitri.space@gmail.com.
